During Safety Week, Beltline was honored to participate in a safety demo with Nucor and welcome Brandon Schroeder, an electrician from Marion, IA, as a guest speaker.
On August 24, 2011, Brandon was asked to relocate a temporary power feed to a construction site, a task he had completed many times before. Since this was a routine task, Brandon did not think to wear his arc flash suit. Unfortunately, this simple task took a turn for the worst. While relocating the feed, Brandon was involved in a severe arc flash accident that could have easily taken his life. His moving presentation opened our eyes to the importance of wearing proper safety gear on the job, no matter how small the task may seem.
